OUR STORY

It's funny to think what will spark an idea... It all began one August day in 2005 when Muriel brought a beautiful, abandoned angora bunny named Puff to Bonnie to adopt, after rescuing her (the bunny) from an industrial park in Surrey. What Muriel did not count on was that she would not be leaving with an empty pet carrier, but with a sweet little Rex that Bonnie had rescued from a neglected outdoor hutch situation the day before.

That simple, unexpected bunny swap became the idea swap that would eventually become the rabbit refuge we operate today, along with other friends we met the same way.

Within a year we opened Mercy's Reach. One rescue became more than 120 before our first anniversary. Today we are an officially registered charity with a reach as far as Ontario. Our PHOTO ALBUM tells the story at a glance....
