SURRENDERING A RABBIT
We continue to take surrendered rabbits, when there is room, simply because the other resources are overwhelmed and there would otherwise be no support for them. However, every owner is required to provide their rabbit with everything it needs to be ready for adoption. This includes the cost of the spay ($125), 3 months of support ($15/month), medications and any equipment we need to adequately house and care for the rabbit.
If someone suggested dumping the family dog into some park, most people would gasp. Rabbits have the same level of intelligence, and absolutely no idea how to survive in the wild any more than a dog does. Yet, people threaten to dump rabbits all the time.
We understand that even the best plans can go wrong. We simply ask that pet owners work with rescues and see them as a last resort, rather than seeing them as a solution for their "bad decisions". We can help, but need you to work with us on a solution for your pet.
PLEASE NOTE: IT IS ILLEGAL TO DUMP RABBITS ANYWHERE.
